I have a Newark St. (Korea) Bluesbird, which has a SD 59 neck pickup.

I'm thinking of 'upgrading' to a 90s or Corona BB. These have 2 SD 59 pickups, as I understand.

So... if I'm mostly a neck pickup guy,

do these 2 guitars sound the same?

;) i realize this is a loaded question.

& I suppose it's more of a Seymour Duncan question, i.e. what difference does ~20 years make to a '59 humbucker?

any thoughts welcome... thanks!

Given the Korean and US Bluesbirds have chambered bodies, I would think the tone would be in the same ballpark, but not necessarily the same. I don't think there would be much difference in tone due to the age of the pickups. I suggest checking out GAD's excellent reviews for more info:

The body on the NS Bluesbird was thinner as I recall. The flame is also a laminate sheet where the US made Bluesbirds are solid maple with inherent flame, though I don’t suspect that would affect tone. I would defer to whatever I wrote in those articles, though. :)
