Hello Guild Friends. First of all I hope this photo shows up. I'm not the greatest at moving photos from one site to another. Check out this very rare 1953 X400. It's in very clean condition. No issues with playability or sound. Those franz pups are my favorite single coil pups. This guitar was on ebay a few weeks ago but I finally picked it up yesterday. The seller decided he did not want to ship and we live about 3 hours apart. It is all original, even the case. The only cosmetic flaw this guitar has is finish checking. It would go great with my '53 X440 as a matched set, but alas I am shipping this beauty to Arlen Roth on Monday. But I get to play it until then. :D For being a very large guitar with a 25.5" scale neck, this one plays with ease. Wish I was keeping it. It's a beauty.
BTW, I cannot believe that Starfire V on ebay with changed pickups and non original pickguard, that's not all that clean to begin with went for almost $2K. That's mind boggling to me.

:( WOW Mike, guess I should have just sold it to Arlen in the first place (for my full asking price, which he was willing to pay), instead of taking down the auction, holding it for 2 weeks while you raised the money that you DIDN'T have to buy the guitar you wanted so bad for your collection, selling it to you at a discounted price, hand delivering it across the state, etc... I truly believed you really wanted the guitar, didn't know you were just gonna flip it to Arlen...
what a load of BS you fed me... Thanks for nothing buddy :x :x :x

SORRY TO ANYONE READING THIS THAT MY FIRST POST HERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING NEGATIVE

Dave, you don't even know the story. Why don't you contact me first before leaving a bunch of negative BS in a public forum. No matter which one of us bought the guitar you would have made the exact same amount. You got full price. On the listing you were willing to ship, but then you decided not to take paypal and not to ship. Had we went through ebay, you would have made the exact same as a private sale. Next time, contact me directly if you have questions instead of running your BS in a public place. Then after you decided not to ship, you wanted $75 extra to meet me to do the transaction. That was not part of the deal. I would have been happy to pay through paypal and have the guitar shipped. You insisted on cash and decided you didn't want to ship. Not me. I sent you the deposit on the guitar without Paypal taking any fees. You even had a best offer on the listing but still made full price. So get it straight before you decide to cast stones. You were not the easiest guy to work with ever trying to make me jump through more hoops. I thought you were a decent guy,. maybe I was wrong. You want to have a discussion, take it to our email. You got everything you wanted and more. I expect a public apology from you. Thank you for showing this entire site just how greedy and small minded you can be. You are the one that made me jump through your hoops. Not the other way around, then you leave this. I don't get it Dave. You got everything you asked for.

Sorry folks. I had to defend my honor. I do not like to leave any negativity in a public forum, but the story needs to be straight. My apologies to you all.

Nice guitar.

I'm locking this while I decide whether to edit out the dirty laundry or just trash the whole thread.
