Hi All,
Well, I am a sucker for Brazilian Guitars...and this 1968 Brazilian Guild D-50 I just could not pass up! You'all have heard me snivel about the narrow nut width on Guilds (for me)...but my gosh...just look at this Braziian....so I have to try again. Should be here next Wednesday.

Anybody know for certain what the Top Wood will be on this Guitar?

Beautiful! Pretty sure that top would be Sitka spruce. Enjoy! Dave

Beautiful Guitar. :D

Just curious. Does it have a "chesterfield" emblem on the headstock?

Hello poser,

This guitar was made during the time that the transition from Hoboken to Westerly was being completed. So depending on when exactly the guitar was finished a D-50 could have just the Guild logo or the Chesterfield logo as well inlaid into the headstock overlay. When I look at the other specs that are visible in the photos I would think that this guitar probably has the Chesterfield logo as well. I might be wrong though.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Congrats, dadthrash. Cloud bridge and everything. :) Beautiful, understated.... Best of luck on your forthcoming NGD.

Thanks Hans. I was wondering about that in regards to another D-50 that's on eBay.

Nice catch there poser. SHEESH....I went back and reviewed all my pictures from the seller, and I can't believe it....no picture of the front of the Headstock.

I have sent a request off for the picture. Guess I kind of got side-tracked...enamored with the Braz!

Will post the HEADSTOCK PICTURE when I get it.

Best,
MRT

Almost all of the D-50s that I've seen from that 'transition' period were suffering from pretty bad 'headstock overlay' shrinkage. Doesn't look all that great in photos so that might be the reason the seller didn't include any. However, that would not be a dealbreaker for me!

Here is a cropped picture of the headstock from a full shot of the Guitar. When he sends me a better picture I will post it.

Hello Michael,

That looks like the original headstock overlay, so it's not a replacement. Looks good!

It sure does, Michael. Take some detailed pix when you get it. I think you're in for a treat.
