I need a replacement pickguard for my 1975 D-50 I bought new. The original came lose 2 or 3 times and I finally pulled it off. Now I am re-considering my choice.
Thanks John

Can't it be reattached? The one on my '73 has never come off, even partially, so I'm curious.

Sounds like an adhesion problem and not a pick-guard problem.

My pickguard curled up from both ends and I had it re-attaches a couple times. unfortunately it is gone now. Now the guitar looks so forlorn without it. I am sure a shop could just make one but I thought buying one might be better. The guitar has been to several countries and from the mountains, deserts and to both coasts and looks it! lost the case in a truck accident so I got an old Martin case.
Thanks John

Back in the 1970's I didn't really know of any good shops for repair until found the Forum in Dinkytown at the U of M. The people that re-attached the pickguard were not the most skilled. The guitar is still beautiful in here own way. I shoveled snow and cut grass to buy it new and my Dad told me it was a waste of money to spend $700.00 on a guitar. I guess I showed him. He is gone and I still have my first new guitar! I got inspired after re-watching the Country Music special on public TV, such a cool show. But so was the Jazz and blues shows.
Thanks john

You're gonna want the footprint to be exactly the same, no bigger or smaller. So to me, that says have one made. They can trace the outline from the guitar and then cut and bevel it. The pickguards did change shape and size over the years. That's my take....
