Has anybody seen one even on pictures? I know there were Nature boys, Cherry, Black and also maple-capped M-80s in the 70s but I have never come across a sunburst M-80 from the 70s.

Not only have I not seen a sunburst M-80, but the only sunburst M-75 I've ever seen was Afterglo's (formerly Treem's).

Then again, Grot hasn't checked in. Perhaps he has one.

I also have a sunburst from 1975.

That is a sweet M-75! I'd love to have it but I think I might be building something else when I get some spare $$. I'd almost hate to get something that mint and gig it. As a matter of fact, I just hit my ceiling fan with one of my Epi Les Pauls when I was taking it off my shoulder last night after practicing. I'd be afraid to put even a scratch on that M-75.

Well first off I wouldn't say it's mint. I mean finish checking kind of took care of the whole mint thing. Plus there is something scratched on the truss rod cover. Other than that it's in pretty good condition. It's just mine is the same color and owning two mostly identical guitars (save for Grover tuners) would seem redundant. And as far as I know there is nobody near to check it out and ship it since the seller is not willing to do that himself.

But you know that there are differences between pre-75 M-75 and post-75 (yours for example).

I'm sure you do but just in case:

1) Pre-75 M-75s have a neck that is parallel to the body as opposed to a steeper neck angle on yours which contributes to a tighter feel of the strings. Pre-75 have a looser feel to them and they say it's easy to knock a string off of a roller (however I didn't manage to do that - not that I tried really).

2) There's much more neck in the neck joint on a pre-75 M-75s.

That's basically it and it also holds true for S-100s of both halves of the 70s.

Hold on, Vadim, you asked for a solidbody sunburst M-80 from the 70ties, not M-75, right?

Not sunburst, but nice to look at in my opinion. Here is my current M80 that I am restoring back to its original specs. I have a set of HB-1's and will be getting the correct knobs soon. I just purchased the one below for the other parts that I need. Once I am done with it I will fix it up with the parts from the first guitar and re-sell. I will probably keep the extra set of HB-1s since they are hard to get.

Jett: The wood on that first one looks amazing! I can understand that you want to bring it back to original state, for instance change the Truss Rod Cover to the M-80 one.

It would be nice, but I am not one to have multiples of the same guitar. I hope the next person to have it will take up that project.

Hi Ralf, the wood on this guitar is the nicest of any I have ever had. That is why it was restored this way, no one wanted to cover up the grain. The first M80 was missing all its hardware when purchased for the restoration and is why it was put back together the way it was. With the second guitar I can use the bridge, pickguard, M-80 truss rod cover, tuners, pots, switches, plates etc and will make the first M80 complete.

Hi Russian Guy, My company operates aircraft out of Moscow, St. Petersburg as well as Europe. I just looked at your location. You are way out there in Russia, what do you do for a living and how big is your city.

Population is about 200 thousand people and I'm in between jobs at the moment. Do you need Russian interpreters who are fluent in English & Russian at your company by any chance?

I wish I did, it would be nice to have another guitar player to talk with. :) The lady that works for me out of Moscow speaks both Russian and English so we are covered. I am heading to Ljubljana Slovenia in a few weeks to HQ, that town is not too much bigger than yours and then to Geneva to another office. What is your line of work? Kevin

Well I worked as an consecutive interpreter for 8 months and English was the main subject in the University at the department of international relations where I studied. Last 3 years I worked as a basically as a system administrator though I don't have enough skills to qualify for that position and the computers in the organization that I worked at were not linked in a local network.

A lot of Russians in the oil industry in Vung Tau.
Also quite a few in Nha Trang. Any chance you could
get on with an oil company or a Russian company in SEA?

You & I would probably be the only US Guild owners in between Bangkok & Manila.
I'm sure I'm the only one in VN.
