I don't have room for that many guitars, else I would be. I borrowed a friend's early 70s D-25 and played a lot of blues and slide on it, very fitting sound for it. Maybe someday.
If you like mahogany tops don't discount the D15, D16, D17. All have arched backs and are usually found cheaper than a D25.

My dad has a D-15 or D-17 (can't recall which one). Nice guitar. Little less mid heavy than the early 70s D-25 though, a more universally fitting sound.

Are prices generally higher in Canada than the US, adjusted for currency values ? A decent D 25 with no immediate need for a reset to me would be worth $1000-1200 USD. My personal preference would be post Hoboken to 72, just for the lower price than Hoboken, and lighter build than 72 on. The D 25 is always a guitar I recommend when asked for a good guitar that can be gigged or camped but still sound great. They are built like tanks for the most part and take the real world use very well.

Aha I see you’ve clued into one of my reservations! The narrow headstock was a concern that they may have changed the recipe. Not too concerned about looks.

This is the one I’m looking at. The prices seem to be coming down across the board, hoping patience pays off. Stuff like this I feel is not reasonable:

But I could be wrong. I know it’s still Ana amazing value. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
I like the '89. Great guitars.

I have a 1980 D25 SB I purchased new in 1980. I have never had a chance to play another D25. I would never part with it. I compare it to other guitars under 1,000.00 and nothing comes close. Many competing guitars sound the same these days with slight variances. The chime and lows of the D25 to me are pleasing, even and not overbearing. Someday I may play a Hog top if I get lucky.

I had a 1980 D40, and a mid 80s DV52. They were very, very good Dreads, but heavier built.

I still have early 70s G37 and D25. They are more resonant and have harder to obtain unique tones.

All the Rhode Island Westerly models have stellar examples, IMHO.

[Westerly, Rhode Island; New Hartford, Connecticut] doh!

There are not many demos on the D25 on you tube. The ones they have just don't do justice to the tone. I guess you could say that about all the guitar demos. Like a MD60 Alvarez on the web sounds very close to a D28 IMO.
