There’s a new bass in town 🗣️
Meet our Starfire I Bass — now available in Pelham Blue finish!
Featuring a slimmed down body thickness and short scale length, our Starfire I Bass is a compact and accessible option for younger players, or those who want more freedom on stage.
Guild’s own BC-1 BiCoil pickups adorn this trendy new bass, complete with hum resistant nickel covers and Alnico 5 magnet construction.

Isn't that the same one they've had for a couple years now, but in a different color?

It looks to be the "new" Starfire I in a new color. The PU cover and surrounds are different colors but the description seems to be the same.

Indeed the bass is listed with three finish options of which Pelham Blue is the newest one.

Looks like there is a $20 price bump for the blue at Sweetwater.

Sweetwater calls it a limited edition and case or gig bag are sold separately.

1. It looks way better in this blue than their cherry and vintage walnut, imho.

2. That tail piece enables you to use any long scale string set you want on a Starfire!!!!! Cool!

3. Its described as "Featuring a slimmed down body thickness"
NOTE that the body depth of the upper and lower bouts (1 1/2") are 1/4 inch thinner depth than the NS Bisonic Starfires (1 3/4"), per specs on the Guild site.
I bet it feels wafer thin.

4. All maple body (arched maple top and back [doesn't say "laminated"], maple sides [ also doesn;t say laminated]!! Cool! Mahogany neck.

JS-2 with fretless option.
I mean, they make a fretless acoustic bass now. Why not an electric?

Isn't Pelham Blue a Gibson custom color? Just seems wrong for a Guild.

I think a JS-I of some sort would be great; a middle-position Bisonic would be sweet too and probably more marketable these days. I just feel like a stripped down, shortscale solid body would be a nice offering around the $500 pricepoint and would definitely sell. Maybe the simpler solid body aspect could be the cost-saving point that would allow for an Bisonic instead of the split coil.

It was used on Cadillacs (like that 1960 Cadillac Convertible Pelham Blue) and Gibson used it as well. But I'm not sure what would be wrong if Guild brings out one in that color. After all Guild used many of the automotive colors Fender used during FMIC times for instance.

1960 was one of my FAVE years of Caddy!!! My sisters 1st boyfriend's parents had a 60 CDV and he had a 1958 Chevy Impala (first year for the Impala) and he was fun and we used to go shoot guns and swim in his parents pool and stuff. Couldn't figure for the life of me why she broke up with him...... :p

and stuff.
For me that would going to get pizza, hanging out on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, going to the Windmill in West End and then right next door to Carvel for ice cream. Teenagers can eat a lot. I miss my metabolism.
