OK here's the story. LAST weekend before I WEnt into hospital had a last blast with my guitar playing buddies. ANT has only been playing acoustic a few weeks, he's a strat owner so I"VE been lending him my BReedlove on long term loan. ANYway he's now looking to buy and loves my GUIlds. THE F30is about the right size for him, but he really loves the bling of the D55 I mean the guy owns a 59 cadillac so that figures right ? HEs got up to 2k to spend, there's no guitar store round here that stock Guild so I"D figure I"D see if anyone out here has anything to suggest. I"D Like to see right by the guy, so probably not a corona cos I"D feel stink if he found out later on that those were the ones to avoid if you know what I mean (BTW I"ve never played a corona model so cant comment either way) I was thinking maybe a tacoma or even if one of the dealers there can ship to NZ A NEW HARTFOrd model. HE's in no great hurry but I"D like to get him some options if I can. WOULD be a darn sight easier to sell a GuILd if the bloddy shops stocked them I"D have thought. OK I Suppose NELson NZ ia a small market, but we have a DUCAti dealership here, so there must be some spare disposable income about

ANY Suggestions or proposals please pop me a PM with lots of nice photos, shipping to NZ costs about 150 USD

I don't have a suggestion as I don't know much about the NH Guilds yet, but having 2k to spend is a problem I would love to have!

AND the Ducati dealership's been there a long time, AND I believe, still under tho original ownership !
Sold my Guzzi Le Mans V to them back in 1993.

I think you'll find that something D55-sized will ship oversize, and thus cost more than $150 for shipping.

Why not contact Neil ( the Pom ) Cross and have a chat with him ? He has / had some blingy Guilds for sale.

Yeah I've been chatting with neil, but he's got mainly JUmbo's and dreads left. ANT really likes the smaller body size. AT this rate IT'll end up being a Martin. (Say what you like about their guitars but they do a pretty good job at getting them into the stores. EVen here in little old Nelson I Could go out this morning and buy an OM!.

Also....the USPS cost of $150 - $200.oo postage rate MAY indeed be a thing of the past! seems "something' has changed in USPS regulations re SIZE and shipping cost! My newly arrived F20 in a much smaller box was not able to be sent via USPS for less than $400.00 US!! and.... Not from a lack of trying either. Fed Ex was the next best option!
In Jan this year, my d25m was sent Via USPS for $172.00 total and insured! SOMETHING has changed!
BUT, if you buy from the US, SOME large scale sellers ( Elderly for one...) have good fedex discounts that get the price back down to the $200.00 range! ( via Fedex)
Just letting you know..........

Call or check out Guitar Resurrection (GuitarRez.com) here in Austin TX. They have a New Hartford F30 in stock. They advertise international shipping and I could check it out if you are interested. Give them a ring.

HEY southernguild,

yep you are quite right ELDerly have excellent FEdex rates, but they wont do a false invoice for customs which adds another couple of hundred this end, apart from that I"ve found ELderly excellent to deal with when I bought my Martin from them.

also I dont quite get this whole undersize oversize thing as every guitar I"ve ever had sent has always arrived in the same ubiquitous Martin shipping box, what do they do Xray the contents and charge you on that ?

Seems SOMETHING has changed seriously.but hard to say exactly WHAT!
as for the size restrictions...its the size of the BOX itself.
but in Jan 2010, a 48x21x19" ,standard dread sized box was sent to me......international express, insured, for about $172.00 . TOO EASY!!! as were other such boxes before, at about the same price or less!........NOW, if you bring such a sized box to the counter at the USPS they are likely to refuse it and claim it oversized. theyre saying 46" ( 116.8cm) is the new length limit..( but that this COULD be overlooked...depending upon the post office you go to, and the clerk there i suppose) If one trys to do this over the net and save time and money, the postal site refuses to acknowledge your package altogether !
I too would like to know more about this change!!
VERY frustrating not having all the info we need !
stay tuned, and keep an eye out for any info on this subject. I LOVE to know MORE!!
And youre right re customs tax.............over here, about 5% of the TOTAL COST, AND THEN....an additional $50.00 admin service fee for the privledge!!!! SHAMEFULL!!!

One must be quite circumspect when dealing with postal employees here. They can become quite temperamental. It's the stuff of legend.
