Hello all, Guild newbie here....
Recently, the S-50 Jet Star has appeared on my radar, but finding little information in regards to specifications.
Looking for nut width, neck thickness at 1st and 12th frets, do all years of this guitar use the same pickup/electronics.
Any known issues to look for while shopping for one? I am leaning towards the ‘63-‘64 with the 3 on a side headstock/non tremolo.
Any help with information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I have a '64 S-50. The nut width is 1 5/8" and the neck is thickness is 0.93 at the 1st fret and 0.85 at the 12th fret. Be aware that the neck profiles can vary. The majority of S-50s from the 1960s used Guild's single coil as shown on my guitar below. I have seen a couple of S-50s from 1967 that were fitted with Guild's Mickey Mouse single coil pickups.

Very nice! Thank you for the reply. Appears the neck is chunky, similar to a 50s Gibson. How do you feel the pickup compares to a P90? Safe to assume the placement of the pickup between the bridge and neck give it unique tonal characteristics vs a 2 pickup guitar with like type pickups?
At your convenience, would you mind measuring the fretboard width at say the 5th and 12th fret?
Thank you for your help!

The pickups are like an underwound P-90. Bright and chimey, but if you dig in they will growl (but with less mids than a P-90). The middle position has its own sound and I find it very useful since I'm a rhythm guitarist. The width at the 5th fret is 1.8" and 2.0" at the 12th fret. I find the neck really comfortable to play.

Welcome to LTG!

From the 1964 catalog (left) and right is the November 1967 pricelist showing the "w/vibrato" version for the fist time.

are u referring to Dave C's Jetstar (DRC on this forum)?

edit: just saw u are looking for a 3-on-a-side headstock so probably not referring to Dave's. where are u located geographically? i'd consider letting one out of the cage
