I plan on going full on Dbacks this season. I have been so long out of New England that I think it's time to wave goodbye to my beloved Sox.
I am not really even sad.
I really enjoyed that stadium, Woody. I mean, it ain't Fenway, but then Fenway would be death there without a roof in summer.

It's really a sad state to me Toker, but I guess these days, it's just the was business is done these days, not just in sports, but also in the corporate world. There is no loyalty anymore, not from team to player, or from player to team. It's sad to us because we see the stars, the most talented and visible players command more money based on their play. Usually if they're good, eventually they are going to go. You really can't blame the players, they play to make money. You can't blame ownership........they are all about their bottom line. As players command more salary, some teams simply can no longer afford them, as players can get more elsewhere.

I've watched this for years, first as a lifelong Astros fan (I know, I know.....booo.....cheaters), but you have to go back to the 60's when the Astros were an expansion team and the bottom of the barrel, and then they got better, and then they attracted players like Mike Scott, Rusty Staub, Nolan Ryan They got better, then they became a farm club for the rest of the league. The minute a player showed promise, they were gone.

And now the Rangers. I've been to a many a Ranger's game, along with Astros games, and for years I've cursed the now gone Rangers GM Jon Daniels. He too seemed to have a philosophy of supplying the rest of the league with great players. Then the ownership change. Again, at the beginning of '23, I looked at the Ranger's roster and wondered what I was seeing? And then they began to gel.

The game, or sports in general simply isn't what it once was.......career players devoted to a team, and teams who stayed with players through thick and thin.

On a side note, one year at Arlington, we had just arrived at the hotel. We were greeted by several LTG folks at the door, and Lord knows I was ecstatic to see them all. The Sheraton in Arlington, where we all stayed, is about 3 blocks from the Ballpark, and as you pull into the Sheraton, you drive right past the stadium. This was October, and playoffs in full swing. You should have seen the ballpark.......banners hanging everywhere, it was awesome. I was overwhelmed. I knew the ALCS was being played, but also knew ticket prices were outrageous. On top of that, we had the Guitar Show. But I simply couldn't resist after seeing the Ballpark, so I jokingly asked the valet about tickets. He said, "Yes sir, this late, I can get you tickets cheap", and he asked how many? I told him 3, then called my son who was in Fort Worth and got him over there immediately. I think I paid $250 for 3 tickets back then.....imagine that.....for an ALCS, sitting in these seats? These seats for a Yankees/Rangers ALCS. They even allowed my son to park at the hotel for free. I asked permission from the other LTG members for my absence and they were gracious. We walked to the game and arrived about 10 minutes before game time.......just in time to watch the F16s fly over. What a memory.
