I was wondering if anyone has equipped their Bluesbird with a Bigsby and what they thought of the results. I've been toying with the idea of getting a Bluesbird (P90 model) but I want a guitar with a Bigsby. I know that Vibramate makes a kit to mount a B7 without drilling any holes in the guitar.

Very nice looking guitar! So does the Bigsby's tension bar hide the stud holes for the original stop tailpiece? How does the Bigsby perform (is it OK with that TOM-type bridge)? Specifically, how is the tuning stability and the sustain?

Not really... I notice that they pop up from time to time. But I know they're rare.[/quote:2c8mo85n]

I am not quite in a position to buy at the moment, but I think it's coming down to a decision between finding either a Bluesbird P90 or an X-170T. Can't make up my mind!

My Bluesbird (humbuckers, sorry) wa originally owned by a Westerly-Guild employee. He added a Guild Bigsby to it...I removed it. I didn't like the modifications he made to the tailpiece. The tailpiece studs only had about 1 thread into the bushings that are in the top of the body. It's a cool idea because no holes were drilled into the top. The rotating rod has two bronze bushings in it t make it operate smoothly

Boris, the bar does cover the bushings. It works fine now that it's connected to the body. I had a real delima trying to decide whether to drill a hole in the top or not. Assuming I was going to keep this in my arsenal I made the decision to drill the hole and I love the results.

Sorry I left out some info for you. The tuning stability is great, returns to pitch every time. No problem with the TOM style bridge, it's actually a roller bridge and works great. Sustain doesn't seem to be affected much if at all. I really like the setup.
