Can normal humbuckers fit in Fender HB-1 covers?

I'm thinking of replacing pickups on my 2000 Starfire IV. Maybe some SD 59 PAFs. I love the Guild pickups covers though. Will replacements pups fit in the old covers?

Also, does anyone else find the stock Fender HB-1 bridge pup not full/fat enough?

Thanks

no, may be a bit usual, but definately fat enough. I like mine in the X-170T.

I dislike Fender HB1s. I think they're boring and lifeless.

I had mine rewound. At first, I wanted his pickups in the HB1 covers, but the winder had issues fitting the bobbins into the covers. We then decided that he would rewind the HB1 bobbins.

No - The pole spacings are not the same.

Unless your audience is a bunch of Guild Guy's no one is going to care and your Starfire will sound great. I spoke to Lollar some months back and they were willing to rewind my Fender pickups - bring money and patience.

I kept my Fender pickups and may have them rewound at some point (I love the covers also) but the SD's (Pearly Gates) I put in are just sweet and on several occasions someone has said "hey - if you ever want to sell that Guild, let me know". No one yet has said "hey those aren't stock Guild pickups - What were you thinking?" :D

I always felt like the Fender pickups were harsh. I never could get it to sound harmonically rich.
