Tongue in cheek . . . I couldn't be happier with my new '55! Kinda makes me want to sample G's mahogany dreadnought offering. Where does it end? 😎

D55 is the great flagship Guild dread. I still see it as that. There are pricier Guild acoustics of course, special runs, etc. Their F512 could also be considered flagship.

I of course prefer hog over rosewood. So a D40 would be a terrific compliment to your D55.

Love both my '85 D50 and my '18 D40T. The D40T is a very impressive guitar, and I think it is going to get even better over time.

All Guilds are a gateway to another Guild. I just wish I had kept most of them.

And, seriously, you might find that you're not married to dreadnoughts if you sample some of Guild's pinched-waist guitars. F-50/F-50R might make you weak in the knees. :D

For me the D-55 is the alpha and omega of Guild dreadnaughts.

I started with a D-40 and ended up with 6 more Guilds, The last a rosewood CV-1CE that was close to a D-55E but with the 1.75 in nut.
