Can anyone decipher the year of manufacture on this SN: CUB000297. And is the F-412 considerably brighter than the RW back F-512? Just wondering if there is some depth or rich tone on the bottom end.

Thank you!

Tom

It's most probably a later 2002 or a 2003 model, but Hans would know better.

I had a c. 2003 F-412 that was made in Corona. It definitely did not lack bottom end! Do you have a pic of the guitar? We love photos!

Congrats, tomvwash.

That looks really good, and yes terrific condition!

The sound of an F-412 is different from an F-512. IMO, there's less chimey-ness and more focus of the mid-range. The F-412 projects strongly, perhaps even a little stronger than the F-512. That's about the best I can do with words. I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts when you get it.

Don't be! Two cracks on either side of the sound hole. Seller failed to mention. Filed for Reverb full refund. No fun.

Bummer! Could be a shifted neck block. Hope the return goes smoothly.

Local luthier thinks he can address it. Maybe it was during shipping. Wasn't packed very well.

tom, best to return it. Just my advice. Looks badly dried out and if there are cracks and it wasn't packed well, then you should be fine returning it under reverbs "return only if guitar is not as described" policy.

Absolutely right. Kind of a shame, though, I'd like to clean it up, restring, and just play it. Maybe easier to purchase new, but so expensive. I think the price on this ($2k) was fair. Would anyone recommend a luthier check / repair before returning it, with a partial refund? Luthier down here is a genuine pro. Everything else I'm seeing is nearly double the price. Reverb return is a headache, for both sides, although in process. Can't help but think that with a set of new strings, repair and polish, that this would be fine. It's also a Corona build, which has more question marks. Any insight is welcome. Thank you.
