I have a DAW desk that is a big dude. 6 feet wide and 3 feet deep. I was using a floor boom mic stand but wanted to get that out of my way and use a desk mounted boom arm. I had two main considerations: 1) The weight of a Shure SM7B mic and 2) The reach needed on a 6 foot wide desk.

Most arms I researched had 15" arms giving a maximum reach of 30". Then I found this Ultimate Support BCM-200 with 18" arms giving it a 36" maximum reach. And every photo the company has shows it with a Shure Sm7B mounted on it.

Long story short, it works great and the floor stand is folded up and back in the closet for other uses.

First photo shows perfect reach for this large DAW desk.

And this next photo shows the mic neatly stowed out of the way. No need for the floor stand in front of the desk any longer.

Cool. That does reach out pretty far. I’m surprised it holds the weight. Thanks
