Thanks! So it is bigger!

Bigger yes, but also much more prominent in an acoustic mix. I would venture to say that the physical dimensions contribute to the significantly larger acoustic sound, but also that bracing, wood selection, construction methods, etc. play just as much of a role, because an extra inch here and there is doubtful to result in what is probably twice the bass response and perceived volume.

A little late to the party but I just scared up the pic of the shipping container I cobbled together of one of the acoustic bass guitars of mine. It was too big for any case so I double boxed it (the right way, with padding between boxes) using up 5 regular guitar shipping boxes to make up this Frankenbox. When the buyer went to pick it up at the FedEx office, he said he could see it through the window from outside.

When I worked for an instrument dealer when I was a young man, we used to pack things in huuuuuuge boxes, crammed with loads of newspaper to the point the boxes were bulging (by order of the owner), then he would order me to "mummify it in tape!". Then off to the local bus stop to load it on a bus.

A collector sent us a Baby Bass when we did the photo shoot for the Ampeg book. It's about the size of a half-size upright bass. He did the "mummification" treatment on it with bubble wrap and then stuck a label on it. It arrived in perfect condition, but we were stunned at the packing job. I can't find a pic of it at the moment, but it looked like a giant one of these:

I just came to think for another benefit of split saddle - the string pressure at piezo is guarateed even at all four strings.

You might remember - about two years ago I opened up the piezo transducers while they were intermittent. While they are made by having one small crystal under each string between two metal strips - and then wrapped w plastic - there's no way to make sure the thickness is even. With short piezo there are only two strings pressing it down - and only two crystals - so even pressure comes naturally.

Here are two pictures - the caliper is set to one inch for size reference.
