Hey guys and gals (down 1 it seems) - I sometimes listen to music and get real emotional and remember good times and bad times. Am I alone here? I doubt it. Anyway, I'm wandering through my youtube favorites and .... there are a few which are mind blowing.

I was young. Only 14 years old when this song came out. It struck me then and it strikes me now.... what an amazing sound. Take a listen---->>> http://youtu.be/8rzeGqqethE

Fast forward about four centuries.... and my girl Joni Mitchell is still prominent. Most people think of her as some kind of simple folk singer. But she reinvented the guitar to suit her needs and style.... acoustic guitar, electric guitar, dulcimer, piano, and then she crossed genres and classes (made her music business poison) and embraces rock, and folk and Jazz and .... everything and made music that, quite simply, boggles the mind and makes me smile and laugh and cry a bit. Honestly..... it doesn't get much better than this. Only Joni could write a song about how much the music business SUCKS in present day.... and make it sound like religion. My goodness. http://youtu.be/sO9ffyAUdHY Just listen to those fingers!!

Moral of the story.... Don't Listen to Music Drunk....

Or just listen to music and remember and enjoy.... there's nothing better! Cheers!
:D :D

You know Tom....you just peeled back the covering of what is music anyway?...I remember a Richie Havens version of 'The making of you'.....one of the lines was 'the righteous way to go, the little ones would know, or believe it if I told them so...' I remember listening to that song over and over till I was completely sobbing...you see the year before my daughter 9 months old was taken by her mom and they moved in with another guy...I didn't see it coming, and my world collapsed...that song opened a valve that allowed me to feel the emotions as well as the hurt. Man don't mean for this to be a downer, but music can taylor itself to the individual listener and their circumstances in a way that not much else can...powerful stuff...on all levels...'almost impossible to do, describing the makings of you'....Steffan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfbmvGnZcms

Steffan, my songs are favorites of mine.... but they're not PIVOTAL songs. Yours is, however, to you, and it's absolutely beautiful!! I've never heard that one before. It's amazing how songs can capture moments in our lives and the emotions trapped and released.

Good stuff, my friend!! :)

Old songs sure as hell bring up old emotions that we have successfully buried. Otherwise why would Seals and Croft's "Hear the Band" make me sob like a baby?

Lest anyone get the wrong idea, I thought using the word "drunk" would be part of a catchy title. Over the course of the whole evening, I had three glasses of wine. That's a "wild party night" for the old man. But hardly "drunk". I don't do drunk.

But I do "happy" pretty well....

+1.
Sometimes something on the radio'll catch me by surprise and make the hairs on my forearms stand up. Sometimes it'll be a choked sob. Sometimes both.
Something like "Darkness Darkness" by the Youngbloods.

Oh that's a GREAT one, Al!!! Talk about a classic song that'll knock you back a bit.
"Fill the emptiness of right now..." 8)
My pleasure, and pain.
I knew you'd understand.
And hopefully folks who don't know it may get inspired to look it up on Youtube.
If you hadn't seen it, I've linked to it before, 'cause that stinging lead is an M-75 Bluesbird exhibited here:

Dang. It's leakin' again. 'Scuse me gotta go find a tissue.
And quit remembering how things were when it was all ahead of us and we weren't afraid of a few slips and tumbles on the road. :(

Well, in my case, when they're consumed over a period of 3 hours, I'm sure it means I'm under the legal limit. The legal limit for BAC in Nevada is 0.08. You may walk around on The Strip and downtown between the hotels, restaurants, and casinos with an open container, but as soon as you leave these areas, that is no longer true. It is illegal to be drunk in public here, just like other cities. No open container in a vehicle. We have fairly stiff penalties for drunk driving here.

As griehund stated, "drunk" is the past tense of "drink". And as I stated.... I mostly thought it made a dramatic thread title. I was not legally drunk when I posted. However, I do not know the BAC for "legally sober" which I think I may have failed......

However, I did enjoy the music and I always enjoy Darkness, darkness by The Youngbloods.... regardless of the state I'm in. Good call on that one, Al!!

What do you mean by "down 1"?
Bit of a disagreement between a couple of members of different gender in a thread which was deleted as a result. If I say more I might let a snark attack slip out, after some reflection on the overall circumstances. :?
