Ever since I got my D-50 and AA last year, and especially since I got the F-512, I've been pretty much ignoring my F-50 (blonde). Pulled it our last night and once again realized what a great guitar it is. Reminded me of when I had the chance to A/B it with a limited edition maple J-200 and realized how much better it sounded-fuller, richer and louder-than the Gibson. Now, compared to my D-50 it makes me remember why I kept it over a Brazilian D-28 when I had to sell one for economic reasons about 1985. Of all the guitars I've owned and others that I've played a lot, it is definitely the most versatile. One of these days I'll have to compare it to a RW F-50.

You know Brad, it could be fun, (like crack  ) if we were neighbours...lets add another D50, F512R, F50R, and F112, into the equasion....we might not see the light of day for a while....and you know what...I still really miss the old white Corona D25..  Steffan

I've spent a number of hours doing the A/B comparison with my '81 D55 and my '89 D50. I also used a '71 D28 as a comparison to the two RW Guilds. Biggest difference, that I can see, is that the D50's neck is "faster" but the D55 has a more "refined" sound overall. The Martin though very nice (I have yet to play a vintage D28 that wasn't nice...that's why I still own it.) just doesn't have the volume or the sound as either of those guitars.

As long as we're comparing Guilds, I did an A/B of my '79 F-40, archedback Maple and my
'94 GV-70, which is a RW, F-40 flatback with a AAA Spruce top. Like your Maple F50, that archedback F-40 really projects....the GV-70 is more like the D55, very refined in tone. I had played several vintage F50s, and they're very nice and as much as I like either of those F-40s.....I'm trying not to GAS too much for a F-50 be it Maple or Rosewood

Treem just sent me pictures of His new JF55-12...which may be up by the time I write this, and I'm looking forward to playing it. There's just something about those big 'ol Jumbos.....
