F212xl serial number -- year help?

All I know is, it's a jumbo! Excellent choice and major congrats! And welcome to the boards! Somebody around here will be able to answer your question, probably several people. Some photos would be good, too!

Just my two cents, but I think E should have been an N (AN 521) which would make it 1966. It may have been mislabeled.
Can someone else verify this?

It's an F-212XL and it was completed during the year 1970.

thanks...what strings to you use and do you tune to pitch?
I've been a fan of uncoated John Pearse phosphor-bronze strings, but I also really like the D'Addario uncoated PB strings. The hunt for the right strings is very personal though... Good luck!
I usually tune a half step down, Gary, and I use only light-gauge strings regardless.

Thanks. I have owned several 1960s Guild D40s over the years and was an original owner of a 1972 F50R. I have been playing Collings acoustic guitars (which are wonderful!) but am thoroughly pleased with this vintage Guild 12. It rings!!!!
