Ok so it’s late in the day and I’m tired, however. A mid 90’s Corona F50R in a D55 body. Label matches the headstock serial number, but maybe 2002 or 2003. WOW I think the label maker dropped the ball on this one. Anybody have a guess?

Label maker was asleep at the wheel. "CV" is the prefix for the D-55. With such a low Corona s/n, I'm going out on a limb to say that it's a 2002.

I agree.

Actually it's a model number error, because "CV" WAS the alpha prefix for D55 s/n's in Corona. F50's used "CU" ;)

BTW re the verbiage, no, it's not a special order, and the abalone rosette was standard on D55's starting around '94, but Guild didn't move to Corona till mid '01 and their first "Official" production year was '02.

And Fender acquired Guild in Nov. '95 ("finalized"), so that's not "One of the first F50's made by Fender". It's the 25th D55 off the Corona line.

Definitely not "mid 90's" but 2002, made 7 years after FMIC aquired Guild...
Labeling error.

The back of the headstock looks like it was dipped in a wax jar.

Well, whatever, that's obviously a Corona D-55, and whoever made the label was drinking heavily that day. Plus the ad is clearly wrong about the year.

Hello I’m trying to get some info on this acoustic that was labeled F50-r but appears to be a D55. Any help identifying the year and if in fact it was mislabeled would be greatly appreciated
