I got this guitar at a yard sale, and I was wondering if it is authentic. I was looking for more info on this guitar, but I didn’t find much to compare (all other g37’s had noticeable differences). Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Hello Kevin,

Welcome! What you have is a blonde finished Guild G-37 from 1979. Without actually holding the guitar in my hands I can't tell you anything about the structural integrity and playability of the instrument, but it conforms completely to the model specifications of that particular period.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

What noticeable differences?

Here's my G-37:

Looks the exact same.

at a yard sale
Kevinlien90, How lucky...Might as well go play the lottery today...I tried to get a 1980 G37 a month ago, but seller was squirrely. Ended up getting a JF-30 instead...Even it it needs some work, I bet it will be worth it for what you likely paid...I see you are new to the forum, so welcome...The folks here are very knowledgeable and are quick to offer insight to Guild (and other guitar) questions...Dave

Yard Sale? I want to come play in your yard! The yards around here don’t have anything like that.

What a great find! Congratulations.
I don’t go to yard sales, so I was surprised to see a guitar on my first one. The guitar was hidden in a cheap beat up case, and I was shocked to see a Guild when I opened it. Beginners luck, I guess.

Have you strung her up yet Kevin. I'd like to hear/read a report when you've got strings on her. Congratulations.
