I've always had a special affinity for waterfalls. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have more than our share, including this one on the creek that flows for 3 miles through the heart of town.

It's very noisy this time of year, but it's an unusually pleasant noise.

Enjoy,

Beautiful Joe. I too love water falls; there seems to be something spiritual and hypnotizing about them

Aaahh, I can hear it in my head. Maybe a little swim, followed by a sandwich, and topped off with a nice nap. 8)

That looks like the type of stream that I would want to find out what type of fish were in it. Do you know? Trout are very tasty.

I also love the sound of falling water.
Here is a picture of me, standing in the same place that John Denver stood for the Photograph for his Rocky Mountain High Album.

Sorry for the small picture. I'm not very good at this computer stuff.

Turning 180 degrees, on the same bridge and just downstream from where that shot was taken, there was another fish lover.

Osprey

We could ask, but I'm certain it was a rainbow trout.

As usual Joe, phenomenal shots!
Nothing for scale....what's the drop on the falls?

The Osprey is nobody's fool, he knows some good trout when he sees it. I'd be snagging a trout or 2 myself if I was right there.

As it stands I have to drive about 40 to get a trout in the stream, and I do it too.

Score: BP = $60 fill-up, Me = $12 worth of fresh trout.

From its source at the lake, this creek runs for 3 miles and drops a total of just over 300' to sea level, but this particular waterfall is only a 30' drop. It makes up for what it lacks in height by the sheer volume of water that comes over/through the sandstone cut.

There are three similar-sized falls on the creek between the lake and the bay. It's an urban treasure in this neck o' the woods.
