He's so cool! I learned about that Tele control plate mod from him a while back, so you can play those cool steel guitar volume knob swells and tone knob wahs more easily.

I've been a huge fan ever since I used to go see him playing with CC & the LPA at an East Bay club called "Mandrakes" back in 1968 or 1969:
Had a chance to see CC and LPA a couple times when they were still living around Ann Arbor, Michigan back in probably 1971 or 1972 at a little club in Birmingham, Michigan called the Palladium. Great band to see live.

He played the 'burst Tele he was using back during the late 1960s til he'd worn the body almost completely down to bare wood. The headstock had been snapped off and repaired at least once. At some point he swapped in Braden pups.

Back during the late 60s, the amp I saw him play through was an old, tweed, Fender combo but I’m not sure which model it was. It was bigger than a Deluxe, Harvard or Princeton, but that’s all I know. Last time I saw him live, maybe 10 years ago at a car show, he was running a Tele through a Talos combo.
