Great S65-D review

What can I say... I think the Guild S series from the late 70's to early 80's are some of Guilds best solid bodies.

The series/parallel switch is an important point you made. The typical coil phase switch configuration is fine but the series/parallel type of pickup coil switching used on the S65-D is a big part of it's unique sound.
