Thought I would pose the question here.
I believe research indicates the Orpheum was Ren Ferguson's brain child of what Guild might have built in the 30s, if they had been around, to compete with Martin and Gibson?
My question is - what were the designers and builders thinking in the late 90s that lead them to build the Finesse?? IMHO, the Finesse ranks near the top of any rosewood Dreadnaught Guild has ever built!

No idea, Stu. Just a special model from the Custom Shop in Nashville. They did a lot of interesting things there. I'm guessing the Finesse was motivated by some customer who wanted that particular bling on it, kind of like the Deco. But, maybe someone else knows the real reasons...

I have owned a nashville custom shop JF-65 with a Fishman pickup (controls on the topside of the guitar), which was made from excellent tone woods. I sold it to another LTGer, one with discerning tastes. Perhaps the Nashville luthiers were looking to offer up an elegant yet understated, bling wise, drednaught. The name of the guitar is perfect.
