As I'm counting down to the arrival of my M-20 (last tracking check showed it in Greensboro, NC and on schedule for a 7/29 delivery), knowing the strings on it are probably original (1965) I'll take it in to the shop on Thursday. I use D'Addario extra light pbs on all my guitars, can any of you M-20 owners think of a reason why I shouldn't put them on this guitar? Thanks, Joan

I have a 1950 Martin O-15 I string with standard Martin lights. If you consider that age of the guitar and the fact that you'd like to balance tension with tone, I wouldn't go beyond lights. If extra-lights are your preference, that would work for the tension/stress issue. I can't fingerpick (which is what that guitar is best for) extra-light myself, because I feel like I'm playing spaghetti noodles. Then again, I have a sort of a percussive style that requires more heft. D'Addario would be a fine choice.

But seriously, if you're playing an M-20, you owe it to yourself to check out some Nick Drake. YouTube would have some stuff, I'm sure.
