Hey guys, after missing out on a nice guild 12 string, the owner told me he has a 1973 M-85 ii (in pretty great condition) and would be happy to sell it for $2400 aud. Do you guys a) rate this model of bass well and b) think it’s a fair price? I’m more of a hollow body guy myself, but already have a nice guild starfire to keep me happy there. Keen to hear your thoughts! Cheers

That's probably a fair price in Aussie dollars, but definitely try before you buy. The pickups are not for everyone (like me, I don't like them at all), and the sold body M85IIs are heavy! The Dark Starred one I had of a short time was well north of 11 pounds, and this geezer likes sub 8 pound basses.

I agree with the above - if you're able to try before you buy, don't mind a bass on the heavy side and like the sounds on tap, it may be right for you! It sure is a nice looking specimen, that appears to be well taken care of. Same neck carve that a Starfire of the same era would have, so I assume you already know how comfortable that is.
Plugging that Australian dollar figure into a converter to US dollars, it seems like a very fair price, provided it doesn't have any issues - especially considering how rare they must be in your neck of the woods!

Some folks like the depth profile of the MkII over the cigar box semihollow earlier model. Including our dear departed Mgod.
