I’m playing with a group and I have to switch from std tuning to going down a full step. For a couple of reasons, I’m wanting to use this as an excuse for another guitar. I’ll likely install a K&K pure mini. I’m thinking dreadnought or jumbo. Does anything favor one over the other? I think a 25.5-25.625” scale is a good idea.

Any excuse to get another guitar will garner nothing but "thumbs up" emojis from the die-hards here!

Can I say, I love your avatar!

I’d really like an old Westerly F-47 or D-40, but with a budget (including tax, shipping, set up, any any repairs) of $2k it seems everything from ‘67-‘86 needs a $500 reset or is $2,500+. There is a $1500 Oxnard F-40e near me that plays great, but I’d really like a burst-finish traditional.

If you're looking for a reason to buy another guitar, I think "I want one" qualifies!! I don't "need" as many guitars as I have but they're mostly all in different tunings. If you can't swing it right now, you could just lower the tuning and then capo for the songs that are in STD tuning. That would work. An Oxnard F-40e for $1500 sounds like a great deal. You'll figure it out one way or another. (y)

I thought of that, but I already sometimes capo at the 4th or even 5th fret. Taking it to the 6th or 7th won’t work.
