Hans- I will get you the serial# tonight when I get home. I believe that you are likely right on the money, as by using your book I have dated it to '64.

John- Yep! You hit the nail on the head- it is a '69 Gibson ES-150DS, and you'll notice the dual pickguards. I bought it a dozen years ago from the original owner who's only change to the guitar was to add the high-side pickguard, as he was left-handed. Rather than take it off and leave holes in the body, I decided just to add the original pickguard back to the low-side and use them both to protect the finsih and give it a custom look- it's the only dual guarded Gibson I've seen. She plays extremey sweet, but I think the DE out voices her at every turn.

The '59 tele body actually has a '57 strat neck which came with the guitar when I traded for it. I love that neck like no other. I thought I was the only one to use this combo, but in watching an old video of Blind Faith playing "Can't Find My Way Home" from '68, their guitarist (not Clapton?) was playing a tele set up with a blonde strat neck...I guess there's nothing new under the sun.

Good evening Hans-

You are right on the money, my friend. The S-100 is serial # 32286, so it is #4 in that particular series. The finish is in great condition, with only minor buckel rash which does not penitrate the finish, and only the most minor scatches and bumps.

I have recently been eyeing a '61 X-500, blonde finish, not much deteriation on the gold plated hardware and in supurb condition over-all. Can you give me an estimate of what the market value would be?

I may have to buy it anyway- I am looking for a great Jazz guitar and this one is absolutely stunning.

Thanks,

Eric

Hey KY Guild!! How 'bout them Cats?! :D

Nice to hear from someone here in God's country who loves a Guild like I do. Where abouts are you from? I have traveled throughout KY in my work, and I'll bet you can't be from somewhere I haven't been.

Tell me about your Guilds!!

Hello Eric,

Not without holding the guitar in my hands or at least being able to look at the various specs!
I don't believe in 'Blue Book' values!

Sincerely,

Yea, I would pretty well bet you have been thru my neck of the woods...head east on I-64 till you are about to run out of the State, and I am there.

I have a couple of acoustics, an F-212XL from Westerly, and an F-50 from Tacoma. Both are exceptional guitars...I don't have any electrics, but maybe one day that will change.

This is a great group of folks, as I am sure you can already tell. Welcome to the Family!

Ladies and Gentlemen...may I present the "DUANE"... my best baby...next to my loving widow...who is going to reap the benifits of my folly. I will post the S-100 next, and then the war room....

Thanks Everybody!

Eric

Welcome Eric! If you ever become temporarily (or permanently) insane please let me know so I can buy "Duane" from you

Here's my baby that I recently got from a local LTG'er. Of course I had to give up my '61 X-175, which I am still trying to recover from, but I am in search of a replacement as we speak

It is a 1956 CE-100, and plays as good as it looks. When I get an X-175 or X-500 sibling for it I will certainly post a family shot.

Guildman- That's beauty as well. I know you'll miss the Gibson, but what a great guitar on which to play away your blues.....I'll bet she sings....

No, not a Gibson, it was a Guild X-175 that I gave up. There was a time when I wanted a Gibson, but I can't justify spending Gibson money on a guitar when Guild is at least as good (IMHO), and is much less expensive in most cases.

I committed to buy a Hoboken X-175 today and will have pictures later tonight of the new baby.
