I came across a jetstar in a music store, but I'm not sure if this is the real thing, the details are a little different from the photos I found online. 微信图片_20230917121151.jpg微信图片_20230917121155.jpg

Welcome Wenzheng Ke! Are you Chinese? I'm curious because of your name. We have very few members from Asia.

In any case, yes, it's legitimate, but it was made in an Indonesian factory as shown. We have a member Ralf @SFIV1967 who's much more familiar with the factories Guild used and their serial number systems. Your photo is a great help. ;)

It appears to be one of the modern ( 2015 or later?) re-issues. You may have seen original versions from the '60's on line.

I'm not too familiar with Guild electrics in general, so I could be mistaken. Other members will offer more advice soon. You came to the right place! :)

That might be a prototype! I wonder if IWM is "Indonesia World Musical Instrument Co"? We've seen a prototype made by Reliance Musical Ltd in Tsuen Wan (Hong Kong) with a serial number TW17041394. Regular production went to Yako Musical Instruments in Zhangzhou (China) and those all have serial numbers that begin with "GY".

2016 I’d guess from the serial number.
Yes, but that is a special one! It has a IWM serial number which I had not yet seen at all!

First at all, the Jetstar model was only re-intruduced at Guild in December 2017!

So this 2016 serial number means it was a prototype made at a different factory. The production Jetstar comes from Yako in China.
This one however was made at "PT . World Music Industry", in Indonesia. (Address: Dawuan Tengah, Kec. Cikampek, Kabupaten Karawang, Jawa Barat 41373, Indonesia)
World Music in Korea produces for Guild already the solid body models like the T-Bird, Bluesbird solid and the S-100.

Obviously Guild decided to not take the WMI made one but decided for Yako at the end.

Here is a picture of the WMI factory in Indonesia:

Thanks for all the replies. At first, I searched on Google and couldn't find a Jetstar with this style of tuner. The color is also a bit whiter than the vintage white currently produced.
Because of the difference in appearance, I thought it was a fake because the guitar was being sold at a very low price. As everyone said, this serial number is special. I also tried searching for guild's serial number to try to verify the authenticity, but no such serial number was found.
Anyway, I'm glad no one thought it was a fake. In fact, I didn't even think it might be a prototype. Thank you all again.

So, Wenzheng, I think the take-away here is that it is a prototype of a Newark Street Jetstar. I certainly wouldn't pay much for it given that it is not a production model, unless you value the fact that it was built by a different factory in Indonesia.

Welcome aboard!
