I’m a newbie to Guild, and after obtaining a beautiful D40 NT recently, had been looking for other members of the Guild family. I am buying an F47 RCE and would love to know the date it was brought into this world. I’m picking it up today, so I only have the information from the photos. The sticker inside says it came from the Westerly plant, and the serial number is AK001081. Could anyone please help and confirm the date of manufacture?

Hello and welcome to LTG. The guitar you are buying is not included in Guild's serial number chart range. Are you sure you typed it in correctly? Can you post a picture of the label and back of the headstock?

I’m picking up the guitar a little later this morning, but here are the photos from the website.

There isn’t a photo of the back of the headstock, and I don’t have it yet but will follow up later when I return. The person selling it is a music teacher at a college that is about an hour away

Excellent!!! Yeah, looks like you typed it correctly.. So, unless I'm reading the serial number chart incorrectly, it's not on there.

@hansmoust do you know?

For the record, I don't like what I'm seeing around the soundhole there and the holes in the bridge... The guitar certainlyh looks original to me, but something is/was going on in those areas.

It’s the very first thing I am going to ask. The seller is a music teacher at a college about an hour away and it’s possible she put them on there. The price is very attractive so I looked over them.

Here is the listing. She is selling it for $975 to raise money for a music program there in Avery County NC. Hopefully they aren’t part of a janky bridge repair…

Hello NewGuild Lover,

Welcome! That particular Guild F47RCE was completed during the year 2000.

Sincerely,

Thank you Hans - after I messaged you, just a short while ago, I saw someone had asked about a very similar serial number and realized it was a year 2000

Well, there you have it, NewGuildLover. It's a 2000. Best of luck. Yeah, some odd stuff to discuss with her, but the soundboard and the fingerboard look great (except for that weird soundhole reflection -- attempt to add abalone???). Good luck!!!!!!!

The link is just fine. I can see the listing and I'm not even logged into Facebook.

Just a heads up, make sure you check the action height at the 12th fret, and the saddle height. If you have a 24" straight edge, take it with you so you can check the neck angle. More details here:

Alright so I have to say that I am very happy with my purchase and it is a great sounding guitar that I hope to get many years out of. It does need some work, but the extent is not 100% clear at this time.

I’m pretty sure it has those “jewels” in place to hide an amateur bridge repair, so that may be work needing done in the near future, along with replacing the existing blended electronic system. The mic portion is not working and the pickup sounds a little fuzzy. It may be a wire that’s loose (hopefully) but at the same time it may need replacing altogether.

In fact, if any of you folks can suggest what would work best, I’d appreciate it because I’m looking forward to making this one of my top 4 live performance guitars - alongside my HD-28 and 714ce, and it fellow Guild, the D40 - but will need to get the pickups working to plug in when playing with my 6 piece. Simply direct miking is asking for major feedback - and requires me to stand still. Neither scenario is desirable

Any good replacement ideas? Or should I get this one fixed if possible?
