As for branding animals - I think the farmers today use another cruelty to mark their cattle - they punch a hole in the ear and attach a plastic tab w code . . .

Espresso is much more caffeine-dense than drip coffee. The issue is that people often try to equate a single shot of espresso (often 1-1.5 floz) to a mug (often 16oz) of coffee. If I drank 16oz of espresso I'd probably die. :)

Reminds me of when I was probably 18-19 years old and an Italian lady offered me a short black. Had never had one before. Told her don't worry about those small cups can I just have a mug of it. Drank the mug, all good.

On the way home, the heart starts thumping, not feeling good at all. Get home, start dry reaching, head spinning. Just wanted it all to stop, like when you've just realised you've had too much to drink and you've got a gut full to process still. Had to take the night off work.

Now days an espresso/short black (small cups for me) in the morning and maybe something with milk later.

Today’s answer to the OP’s question is definately, “not enough”.
I have moved from drip maker to french press a couple days ago to try to drink less. It's "sort of" working.

Also I like French Press coffee way more than drip so that wouldn’t be a good solution for me either.

I still end up drinking 4-5 cups a day, full cups etc...it's basically no different in quantity at the end of the day, as my wife says, "but you'll just make more french presses. what you really need is self-control..."

It's such a strange thing. I love the taste of my morning coffee and I truly enjoy it to about half to 2/3rds gone. Then I suddenly lose my taste for it. Something changes and I just don't want any more. So I put it up and refill and reheat in the early afternoon, but by then I'm just drinking it for the effect, not the taste. But those first few sips in the a.m. are just heaven!!

Ours don't get a tag until they go to auction, and they do it at the auction house. No choice, it's a law.

For those drinking coffee w milk.

If you make more coffee than you drink in the morning and immediately turn heating off - if you wish to have one more cup few hours later - there are three options :

- mix cold coffee w milk - heat in micro
- heat coffee in micro - add milk - ( heat more if necessary )
- heat milk in micro - add coffee - ( h m i n )

Wich is best ( or least bad ) - and why ?

I have opinion w explanation - but let you tell your opinions first.

You and Tom bring up an interesting veer, as this happens to me too. When I just get sick of drinking it, but don't want to dump it down the drain as I might finish it before dinner etc...

My Mom, before microwaves, used to position the coffee cup (with coffee in it) over the top of the kettle opening, the large opening of a kettle. It would sit in there at an angle, and she would just turn on stove and heat her remaining coffee from earlier that way. It was pretty cool.

I either throw ice in it or heat it up in mic...

I like coffee many different ways: with milk, with milk and sugar, only with sugar, or straight black. Often in the afternoons, I like a cup after lunch, and I often like it cold with milk, or iced with milk and sugar. It's like lunch dessert.

An old musician colleague was a bartender. He created for working musicians, a drink he named the "Flying Monkey." It was a tall coffee with just a spot of Kahlua, Jameson's Whiskey, Frangelica, and a touch of Bailey Irish Cream. It tasted amazing, and the coffee balanced out the alcohol content so you were still able to have energy to play competently, and have the energy to huff out gear at the night's end. It became my go to cocktail. :coffee::coffee:

Another strange thing is cold coffee. I can't abide it. Yet, if you put SUGAR in it and pour it over ice... perfection! But cold equals sugar and sometimes.... liquor. Just gotta be careful because of the caffeine later when I'm most apt to order such a thing!!

At work lately 2 max, not sure why as I used to drink several all day....but we moved from Bunn to kcup, (bleech), at work. Answered my own question I guess!!!

I'm fairly sure I posted this before.

We used to have the Bodum, the Airpress, the old glass Vaculator and I had many old aluminum cofffee pots, perc or drip, Lexan Bodums, etc. that I would carry on my backpacking trips.

At a lean to in the ADK's one morning, (which you have to share if other hikers come for the night), I was making coffee in an old perc atop my old, old Svea 123. Another guy was heating water, on a SnoPeak stove, to make instant. We both looked at each other as tho we were nuts.

Long story short I tried his and vice versa. My coffee was ground two days prior by a friend who will roast a tiny batch for me. His was Nescafe Classico. Mine was great.....his was better.

It's all we drink at home now.
