I agree. I tend to strum close to the end of the fretboard and they would get in the way

I just got one almost exactly like this from Sean Kochel, the builder. I'm going to review it for Vintage Guitar. So far, I like it. The reclaimed barn wood look is very appealing. Haven't plugged it in yet, but probably will this week.
