Luckily I found this beauty on craigslist that just arrived this week! A '78 S60-D is excellent shape :D

I sold my old S-70 and S60-D to help fund my backpacking trip that's coming up in a few weeks, and I instantly regretted it! Thank God we live in a craigslist world and a somewhat rare guitar can be tracked down in a matter of weeks. This just proves, once you go Guild, you never go back!

Side note: the seller included a custom made Unitec case and it's pretty awesome. I have no idea what they cost alone, but it seems like a good option for anyone looking to find a case for these "bell bottom" guitars. I searched forever for my S-70 and only came up with one that kind of worked.

I'm not a solid body guy, but even I can see the beauty in your 'new'
S60-D. Congrats on a very nice find!

*And where will your backpacking trip take you this time of year, if I may ask.

Why thank you Joe, I was thrilled to find another one that was in even better shape than my last!

I'm heading out in about three weeks. Starting in South Korea to meet a few friends, then we're flying to Vietnam. From there we'll be going to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. The next part is still up in the air, the plan was to fly to Egypt for a bit, but with the unrest and violence going on who knows what will happen. Eventually we'll end up in Europe for a bit, and then it's back to the good ol' USA.

So even though it was hard, I had to sell most of my gear to fund it, but in the end it's worth it for me... as long as I've got at least one Guild to come home to :D

Wow, that's quite the ambitious itinerary, GS!
You're off to add to your personal travelin' bag of memories and experiences, and I wish you safe travels.

Take care of yourself and stay Guilded,
Joe

That's a handsome guitar, so much like the one I tried (first Guild electric I'd come across) years ago. That one was such a great player, hoping yours is the same.

You done good… You done very good! I even liked case, it looks very well built. Out of curiosity how heavy is that case? Again congratulations on the new S60, and be safe on your trip.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate the well wishes for my trip... Got my refund for Egypt processed and now we're heading to India instead, very excited about that!

The case is very well built, almost too well built if there was such a thing. That being said, it's pretty heavy. I still wouldn't trade it for another though, very nice job by Unitec.

GS, way to go on the new Guild. Oh how I love a good sunburst. And the trip sounds great. Godspeed and bring back lusty tales of adventure.

So as it turns out, all the positive vibes worked quite well, thanks you guys!

I had the most amazing two months of my life, and even managed to keep the guitar playing alive. I bought a $25 acoustic in Vietnam, and although it was no Guild, it was better than expected.

Also, the traditional music of India was incredible, I wish I could have bought a bunch of instruments, but lack of transport and funds derailed that idea. I did get a lesson from some locals during a desert jam though, and even though the picture looks good, I had no idea what the hell I was doing, thankfully there is no audio! haha

Thanks guys, it's good to be home safe and sound! I would have loved to have brought my S60-D along with a battery powered amp, I was having Guild withdrawals! I really did miss it actually, which is another reason why I'll never sell this one... hopefully.

I would also recommend Asia to anyone interested in traveling. The people and places were amazing, and everything is dirt cheap! Just make sure you bring a lot of Imodium!

Welcome back from what sounds like a fantastic journey.

Joe
I'm guessing there's a little pride and jealousy there for you, Killdeer. Pride in that perhaps all your beautiful photos inspired some of the rest of us to take Killdeeresque shots. And a tinge of jealousy that you couldn't have been there to shoot that one yourself. :D

Tremendous photos, 'shaman. Thanks so much for sharing and welcome back.

I don' think I'll ever be able to settle down... it's for sale now. I need a semi-hollowbody in my life and I can't afford them both. I admit, I'm one fickle man.
