Purchased Guild F-412 built in Tacoma Nov. 2005 with Fishman Matrix Natural 1 pick up. Guild Customer Service says pick up should have sound hole volume & tone controls. Fishman Customer Service says no sound hole volume & tone controls. Can anyone help? Also, guitar has no pickguard. Has anyone ever heard of this? Thank You!

Welcome aboard, lptf...

Yours is a very earlier Tacoma model. My only knowledge is that DTAR Wavelength was in use by Tacoma, but perhaps not right at the beginning. In any case, my expectation is that this was installed aftermarket, lptf.

Maybe this guitar is a prototype. It's possible. Do you have a shot of the label?

I have a 2005 D-55 and it has the same factory installed pick up in it.
No control knobs, just the pick up.
This was used up to the time of the switch to D-Tar.

As far as a pick guard goes.
Some people don't like them and remove them from their guitars.
I would think that this is why your guard is missing.

How do you like your F-412?
I love my D-55.

TMG and Scratch,

Thanks for the info on the factory system from early Tacoma! I had no idea they were using those "barn door" Fishman systems.

lptf,

I take it you do not have one of these panels on your top side, right?

Sounds like you have an older version of the Fishman Matrix 1. The orginal version has a preamp but no volume or tone controls. The new Matrix has a soundhole mounted, thumb wheel style, volume control.
