Is it really a misprinted soundhole label?

New to the space here. I've got a few Guild acoustics, but the one that has always been intriguing to me is my 1987 Guild GF 61 RNT. Hear me out....
I know that there is no record of Guild ever producing a GF 61, but there are enough of them out there to think maybe it wasn't just an error by whomever was tasked with writing down the model number, etc on the sound hole label? I've tracked down a few of them that have sold and every description says the sound hole label was incorrectly labeled. Just seems like a big coincidence for labels information that was handwritten. Thoughts?

Hello, Brett. Welcome to LTG. There are lots of "errors" in Guild labels over the years. This might be one of them...

Can you take a picture of the label and a picture of the back of the headstock so we can see what you're referring to? Can you also post a picture of the whole front and back?

For the record, is this what your guitar looks like?

Welcome!

You have a GF60R. GF61 was an internal number that was erroneously used as the model identifier on the label on several examples.

Yup, certainly likely. Would love to see pix, Brett.

The defining characteristic of the GF-60 model line is the diamond inlays in the fingerboard. I assume that's what you've got.

Definitely. And the GF60 prefix matches Gruhn's guide, aw.

Man, that is a beauty. Oh, and dare I mention the contents of those racks of beautiful and rare Guilds behind it! Yummmmmmmmmmy!

Appreciate the info! Wow. Learned more in 5 minutes than I have in the past year. I'll load up a few pictures of the guitar and the label. I did know that it was, by all measures, a 60 but having the reason why it is mis labeled is great. Thanks all.

Again, welcome aboard, Brett.

Treat all "information" that you have heard about Guilds elsewhere as garbage; that's usually the case. This is the place to come for the truth.

Oh, and if you get us the serial number, I can get the date from Gruhn's Guide for you.

Hello BrettAnthonyOriginal welcome to LTG from a recent Newbee.
Your question is very similar to my first question that I posted here. The label in question is also a Gruhn Guild that was labeled a D64 which is Maple back and sides but my guitar is Rosewood back and sides which makes it a D66 which is also verified by the serial number made in 1986. I hope you like your G60 as much as I like my D66 which has great resonance and sustain; much better than my Martin D42..
It's astounding how much accurate information is available here, many of the members can sort through the inaccuracies and explain what the guitar model actually is and the year it was built.
