Hey Guys, i hope if you can help me. I got a guitar here and i dont know, if it is an authentic Guild guitar. I think it is supposed to be a S 300 D. The truss rod cover is missing. Can you help me? I couldn't find a serial number - so i am unsure. I could also send more pictures.

It is the guitar of a friends dad, who got it as a gift many years ago. I want to buy it, but if it is not authentic i wont pay the full price.

Greetings from Germany, Tobi

Yes, it's an S-300, but with changed pickups and knobs (at least). The serial is stamped into the back of the headstock; you can see in the first pic where the finish is wavy over it.

Welcome. It looks "legitimate". The knobs have been changed and I don't know the model will enough to comment on other things.

The serial number should be stamped on the back of the headstock. it may also be written on a label that is on the back side of the cover for the control cavity.

This was actually a great idea.... and i found one!! It seems, the guitar was white at a time? Because it says Model: S300DWHITE
But no signs of white colour on the insinde.

I cannot find any information about the year online though. I checked the chart on the Guild site, but did not found any clues

Really? I've never seen them on a Guild. Did they only use them for a short period?
Early ones have those knobs. I’m on mobile but I’m pretty sure I show them in one of my reviews.

If it’s any consolation I only know they’re original because Hans corrected me once when I said they weren’t. :)

Well, Hans is basically always right with the year, so if you tell him or us the serial number we can tell you the year, but again, looks like 1978.
And yes, refinished and replaced pickups.

Sep 1978 price list:
