So I was checking the battery on my new guild and decided to shine my flashlight in there to see if I saw if i could find the Center joint of the top when I noticed something.

The light shines through the freaking top of the guitar! Are the tops on the new guilds usually this thin or mine just weird?

I can’t see a darn thing when it comes to my Taylor or takamine . I will say it’s pretty cool though become able to see the bracing lol

Don’t know Jared, but I’ve long thought the tops on ‘70s Westerly-made Guilds were thinner than many other makers - which contributed to their ability to remain resonant, even when other portions of their construction seemed rather overbuilt. Perhaps there are some historically common dimensions at play here.

Most guitars you can do that with . Think about how ones finger lights up with a light underneath it . Geez now I’m having thoughts of jokes like playing doctor and old operation game ! lol that’s how we get a sneak peak at the bracing of guitars lol 😂. Obviously thickness plays a part and I’m not sure what early guitar builds were that same . One of the older model owners would have to jump in .

Jared, yes! You've discovered what's colloquially known around here as the "Henkogram." Pretty damn cool, isn't it? A few of our members have posted pictures like these showing all the bracing very clearly.

It is cool and I’m not sure what my Taylor is a Sitka spruce

The tak is spruce but it weighs a ton lol and the thinner top would explain why the guild is so much more responsive than the other two
