I have probably played more Jimmy Buffett covers than music from any other musician. I love the ocean and have always loved Buffett's music, most of which uses the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean as a backdrop. I own and have read his books, and have seen JB perform maybe 5 times. I always have been and am a fan.

Anyway, as you probably know, we've lost Jimmy Buffett and he will be greatly missed, What a subtle powerhouse he was for so many decades. May you sail with your grandfather Jimmy.

He certainly was was a powerhouse. He was named on Forbes list of Billionaires this year. He had quite the empire.

Yes he did, and he always stayed humble. He was just so very unique. He was in a niche occupied by no one else.

I wonder who will step into that zone and try to claim his fan base?

I can't think of anyone who could. One thing about Jimmy Buffett that blew me away was his ability to garner mass following in two different generations. I'd played his music since high school I guess, and knew all of his older traditional music. Then I lost touch for a couple of decades, though still playing his music that I was familiar with. We decided to attend a concert of his in Dallas, walked through the gate, and we were some of the oldest people there. Then I began to listen as he played a bunch of songs that I was not familiar with. "Parrot Heads" everywhere........thousands of them. :)
