it's of course totally subjective, but to my ears:

1. Gibson J200 Rosewood
2. Guild F50 (R?)
3. Gibson J200 maple
4. Taylor 618

I haven't been able to see any of them as really better than the others...I have listened several times, and one time I liked one, disliked an other for being too harsh or something, but didn't feel the same a following time ; so all together I think they are all good, and the Gibson Rosewood has been my favourite several times...So unlike Westerly Wood, I wouldn't be able to give an order (unless required of course).
Price would be an important factor if I had to make a choice...

Thanks for that link. One thing no one mentions when they make these comparison videos is what kind of strings are on the guitars. Do you assume that they are the factory set?
I thought from reading these guitar forums that strings can make a big difference.
Still learning so I appreciate your reply.

Hello Diane,

STrings make a HUGE difference in the sound of any guitar. I didn't watch the video, and I've made plenty of my own comparisons among Guild (and other) jumbos over the years. But, NEVER underestimate the effect that strings will have on the sound of your guitar.

Keep learning, and in your case keep the questions coming. If you get specific, we can try to give you specific answers. -- C

I have a 2020 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 - torrified top, hide glue, thin finish.
It doesn't sound anything like the SJ-200 in that clip.

I think that strings probably are the factory set : unless the've had some of the guitars for long enough to need a string change (in which case they'd still probably put the same strings that the guitar had before)...I've never been to the shop, never bought from them either (I live very far), but I receive their videos regularly (though not all of them it seems). Guitars don't seem to remain in the shop for very long, as they do a lot of videos, seem to be friendly and have quite good prices as well.
I don't think they would put other strings than those recommended by the builders, and the only guitars I've seen that remained in the shop for a long time were some Custom made with unusual specs (like expensive Martin 00s with Maple back and sides for instance). Can't tell you more however.
Any particular reason why you ask ? They've had Guild for quite some time, but not very often though (more Martins and Taylors than any other brand, including Gibson in spite of their being located in Bozeman)...

Chazmo, please delete if possible this other thread (same title), that was done by mistake because of some technical issue.

Hi Bernie, I really was referring to all the people on YouTube who do reviews of guitars, not just this video. I should have worded my question that way and am sorry I was misleading. I had hoped that the answer was factory strings!

Canada .... brrr
The string question is very valid. For comparison of guitars they should all be strung with same strings at same time. But store experience will be different. I remember in a store playing a bunch of Gibsons all with dead strings and horrible sound. I complained to sales person and he said that Gibson can only be sold with Gibson strings on. They would put fresh strings on for serious customer though.

Thought you might have suspected that the Guild was poorly served by old strings, or strings that didn't work so well (hence its not succeeding in showing how the Gibsons and Taylor sounded as toys compared to it ;)). Actually I would have expected the Guild (and Taylor too) to do a bit better. 1 RW Gibson, 2 Maple Gibson, shortly before Guild, was my last take 2nd time listening, then Taylor (could still change)...
