Hello everyone, I am new to guitars and this forum. I recently purchased this D30 and am starting lessons next week.

I don't know much about guitars but I thought I would post a few pics. Feel free to comment

Good luck with your lessons, you are starting right by using a good instrument to learn on.

Looks like you need some strings, though!

I also have a D30. :)

Welcome, ab.
Looks like you're off to a good start with a great guitar.
I'd go ahead and spring for a new set of strings, or at least a D string.

Aw, what the heck, get a full set and have fun! Stay in touch and stay in tune,
Joe

Welcome aboard, abwomack!

Nice Guild with nice new strings, and nice pics!

Next step - Record and post your lessons on Soundclick.com so we can follow your progress!

Just kidding! :D You'd get a lot of pointers, though!

Post well. Post often.

Welcome and nice guitar.
You may want to try light gauge strings on your next change.
They will be easier to push down and play.
But mediums sound great and they are my choice so it's up to you which strings you use.

It may also be worth having the action looked at by a good guitar tech.
A good set up will make a guitar much easier to play.

Have fun with that beautiful guitar and be sure to keep it humidified properly,
TMG.

Welcome ab,

I've got a D30 and it's one of my favorites. :) Funny thing is that it's one of the least expensive guitars I've got, but I put the most expensive strings on her. Just a suggestion, but after you've tried a few on yours (or from the beginning) try a set of Thomastik Plectrums on it. And that's coming from a die hard John Pearse guy. I love the Pearse 80/20's on my rosewoods for about $5/set, but the Thomastiks just light up the maple D30......and they are very easy to play. You can order either from Just Stings. I've tried the Thomastiks on my rosewoods and don't care for the sound. I've even tried them on another maple, my JF65.....no dice. They just do something to the D30 that none other can do for me,

This is what I like on my rosewood guitars:

I hope you enjoy her for a lifetime,

OK, someone posted about the humidity. Does that mean that I can't just keep the guitar on a stand in the corner??

Click on the SEARCH function up above and type in "humidity" and search in "acoustic/acoustic electric" and you'll get at least 357 threads.

I have all of mine out and either hanging or on stands in my office and they're just fine. I want 'em where I can play 'em.
