I thought I posted this same topic about an hour ago, but I don't see it on the forum board. Oh well. Here it is again...

Before coming on this board I had not heard of the K & K pickups that seem to be quite popular around here. Is there something special about them compared to a Fishman undersaddle mount piezo? I'm not really crazy about my current GAD 30RE standard issue pickup and thought about changing it out with something else.

Cheers,
Dave

K&K Pickups are just popular in general not just around here. I've used a lot of different brand pickups. The K&K Pure Mini PU is the really popular one and the benefits that I think it has are a very natural sound that sounds like your guitar as opposed to a Under Saddle Transducer Piezo pickup (like LR Baggs Element, DTAR Wavelength, Fishman Matrix, and many others) which has a sound to me that doesn't sound quite as much like your guitar some people describe them as Quacky even though most of the newer ones doe have a more natural sound. The K&K Pure pickup really excels through their Pure Preamps. Also they don't require batterys so there is less stuff inside the guitar which I prefer. I prefer plugging my acoustic guitars directly into PA systems and I get a great sound with my K&K Pure pickup with the Pure Preamp.

I've been a fan of K&k's for a long me. Like Rockinb23, I used to use the K&K Pure pre-amp. Recently switched to a K&K internal preamp that also has a phase switch. Liked it so much I added the phase/preamp to another guitar that already had a K&K mini.

I don't know much about pickups (or guitars even  ) but I just found out my guitar has the K&K Pure Mini installed, and it sounds good. I haven't played it through an amp yet, but direct to my recording software (to test it out) and it seems very balanced and I'm happy with the tone. Sorry I can't give any more input!!!

I have the k&k pure mini and love it. It does sound like my guitar. have played through a couple of different PA's and an Acoustasonic amp. It sounds much better than the old slip in the sound hole pup I used to use.
