Still, which popular act has put out so many albums in such a short space of time? Creedence did 3 in a year in the 60's I think.
Beatles. 64 and 65, and even right up through Magical Mystery Tour if you consider consecutive 12 month periods and not just calendar years. Then finally took a year (November '67 -Nov.'68) off to put together the White Album. Lemme tell ya, there was some
heavy pent up demand for
that one.
Also the Stones, even outperforming the Beatles for the same amout of time.
Curiously both bands "took a breather" around 1967.
"Something in the water", maybe?
Even The Beach Boys: '63, '64, and '65. THEY took a breather in '66. Closer to the well-spring, maybe?
Boy, those wild'n'crazy baby boomers sure went for their pop music, eh?
But here's the surprise all-time winner as far as I can tell:
THE VENTURES.
EVERY year from 61-67.
THey've got a big fan on the baoard here but I can't remember who it is.
Possibly one of the most under-remembered bands of all time, at least out in this neck of the woods.
