I haven't had any work done to any of my guitars in probably 15 years. I wanted to get my G37 all fixed up, it has a little fret buzzing going on and there is an issue with the nut and I bought a K &K Mini bridge pup that needs installation. Naturally I want to get all this taken care of before showing up at the Guild factory tour and jam event. I took by baby in to the guy who used to work on my guitars 15 years ago, but he claims to be swamped, and even with over 6 weeks from now until then he would not commit to getting to her. So, anyone knows of a good luthier in CT or Westchester County, NY?

Well, I don't know anybody in CT or Westchester, but you I bet you'd find that my guy on Long Island (Western Nassau) would be worth the trip. I know I'd travel to Fairfield county if that's where he moved! PM me if you want his number.

When I lived in southern CT (years ago) I brought guitars to George Youngblood in Guilford.

George is very good but often takes forever to get to anything. Paul Neri in Clinton is also excellent, used to work with George. Was a Guild approved craftsman when they were in Westerly, but I'm not sure about now-I haven't been there in several years.

Thanks all. I will try the CT guys first. My guy, Joe at Connecticut Music in Stamford is very good and very thorough...probably why he's go 2 months worth of work backed up. Problem is I don't want to wait 2 months.

I don't know if he does repair work, but Bruce Taylor, the luthier who built Pete Seeger's 12-string, lives in Weston. Might be worth checking out. I also remember hearing good things about a luthier in Westchester County, but don't remember his name.

So I talked to both the guitar Mechanic and Paul Neri. I'm going with Paul because he's got 2 recommendations here and he is closer.

Update:

Just got my G37 back from Paul Neri today. Action is lower, Fret Buzz is gone. The K&K Mini Pickup he installed sounds a zillion times better than my old Seymour Duncan sound hole pup. (The K&K was recommended in an earlier thread.) I am very happy with his work and the fact that I did not have to leave my guitar for weeks on end.

Congrats & enjoy! Good to know about Paul because I've got some work that needs to be done at some point too.

Those pickups are great, aren't they? I don't use anything else anymore. Nothing like a good setup & K&K... it's like a whole new guitar now.
