Hi - New member? Why, because the guitars I'v been lusting after have finally fell into my lap. I am now the proud owner of

1966 Guild Starfire III
and
1966 Guild T-100-D.

What a lucky guy I am.

Now i just have to figure out how to post pics. Stay tunes!

Welcome! Nice guitars you have there.

How would you compare the humbuckers to the mickey mouse pickups?

What an excellent pair of guitars......Congrats!

I've always love the similar but different angle.

None of my Guilds are newer than '61.....have a Starfire with DeArmond Dynasonics and a T-100 with Franz pickups, so am naturally curious about the sound of those humbucker and "mickey mouse" pickups.

Thanks all! I was lucky enough to find one locally in St Paul. I'd been looking for the right T-100 D for a couple of years - hoping that money and opportunity would all work out - but when i saw the Starfire - i just had to have it. Two weeks later, i found the T-100 D in Tennesee and my wife gave me the green light. In an absolutely maddening twist of fate - this is the current state of the T-100 D.

back in the box in came in until Christmas. Will it be sweeter when it comes out? Lets hope so. I'll let you know more about the pickups Dec 25!

The mini humbuckers are amazing. Sensitive and strong. They go from and amazingly rich and full jazz tone to a crunchy angry growl. My limited experience with the T-100D is that is brighter but i haven't really given it a test drive yet. Sigh.

+1 on the mini humbuckers. Best pickups ever, IMHO.

Well, After playing the T-100-D for a few days - and having it sound wonderful - my bridge pickup went out. The head of the repair shop at my guitar store thought it would be no problem to repair the switch. He also noticed that the bridge was bent and the intonation off. He'll repair that too. Couldn't tell that from the photos i had seen online when i bought it - and it wasn't offered up - but it's a fairly easy fix. Nice to have someone I trust working on my new baby, but I really wish i had gotten more time on it. I'm in line, with about 22 guitars in front of me. Hopefully sometime this week. Completely different sound then the Starfire.

Now, for a nice vintage guild acoustic - just to round out the set - right?
