New guy here, just picked up a pilot, thanks in large part to the info provided here. Its a lefty SB-602 with bartolinis and a hipshot. The seller described it as late 80s, the serial number puts it somewhere around 87 or 88. I should have it later this week, really looking forward to it. I'll post pics and my impressions once I get it.

Welcome here Smalls! I've got a couple of (righty) Pilots myself, and love 'em.

Countdown to Grot, 5-4-3-2-1...

Welcome. Hipshot bridge or drop tuner? My Pilot came with the latter and someday I'm going to have a reason to use it 8)

Have had my '86 Pilot for several years, but new to this site. Has the best neck I ever cradled in my hands! P/J config. gives me awesome tonal variation, Grover tuners are super smooth, jazz style neck plays like butter, perfect balance...there just is nothing like this USA beauty. Enjoy, keep her in good shape and you will appreciate what a great find you have.

Some say they play, some say they gig...I say, if you're not gigging, you're just playin' with yourself" Guess who?
