Just wanted to pass along my great experience with Pete Brown at South Jersey Guitar Repair.
After going on a spree last summer and buying three guitars, I decided that I should probably concentrate on maintenance, rather than acquisition. I decided to take my "best girl", my 67 SFIII and "Freckles" my F-112 over to Pete to get the necks reset on them. Pete looked at them and talked me out of doing a reset on both of them, as there were underlying issues with the both of them.
Pete would have done the resets if I insisted, but I decided to have the work done first. For example, the frets on the SF were all coming up at the ends, so, I agrees to a fretjob. Freckles, it turned out, had a worn out nut, so when Pete took the excess relief out of the neck, the strings were practically on the neck. I got them both back yesterday.
I'm very happy. Scratch that, I'm ectatic. Freckles will need a neck reset down the line - there is no argument about that. She will always be a coffeehouse/recording guitar until then, but... She plays sooooo much better than she used to and Pete found and fixed some dead spots, so Freckles sounds better than she ever did!

The Starfire is a different guitar. Night and day. She was a cool guitar, with the scars from every bar and gig she ever was at but had a lot of buzzing. I chalked that up to sloppy technique, but some of that turned out to be the frets. I sprung for the refret and the neck is a dream. I would have been very happy with the fret job, but Pete fixed the selector switch, glued down the headstock veneer, and soldered the pickup covers on. Since '67, the covers were a press fit - whoever assembled the minibuckers did not solder them long enough.
Anyway, I'm really happy with the work he did and will have no problem recommending him.
He said that he's registered here under drfret, so hello!

He's got my F212XL and Yamaha as well. He gets glowing recommendations from local shops.

I'll let you know my experience when I get them back.
