Hi Everyone,

Finally got my Guild Starfire III Newark Street. It's a really nice guitar! The folks at the Miyaji music shop in Ochanomizu, Tokyo were really helpful. The cherry red finish is just gorgeous. The ivory white binding is a little "too aged" for my taste and has a slight banana pudding color, which some folks love, but I personally prefer a lighter/cleaner ivory white tone...but no big deal.

Besides those things, I also replaced the TOM bridge with Aluminum Tru-Arc as soon as a I returned home, and I must say it does sound much livelier and if I can say, more acoustic-like?! I swear, the Tru-Arc adds not only a bit more sustain, but also a bit of snap, zing and shimmer factor?!?

Anyhow, I tried to send some pics from my One+ smartphone with CyanogenMod software, but the pics can only be sent to Wechat, Google, and standard SMS channels. No Yahoo mail app yet to sent the pics to. I'm trying to see how I can send the pics to my email account, then download them from the lap top and upload them here a LetsTalkGuild.

This SF III had some minor blemishes near under one of the F-holes, plus a tiny bit of tint-finish scuffed from one small corner of the edge of the florentine cut-away horn, but considering I got the guitar for Y105,000 (around US $810), it's a deal!
I even got a new Mono ES-335 hybrid gig case to go with it (around a US$180 value), but that was from another shop that was closer to Ochanomizu metro station.

I had to do a secret swap of cases at the other store after picking up my guitar at the first one, but all-in-all, everything is good now.

I was amazed at how I was able to bring that guitar on board both legs of the return trip back to China.

Anyway, so far the guitar sounds really really nice, but I still have some "upgrade plans" for it in the near future: things such as upgrading the tuners to either Kluson Wafflebacks or Grover Imperials; rewind the bridge pickup or maybe try different pickups later (if I want a different flavor), and possibly change the knobs to something more retro-like (i.e. Gibson gold/silver top hat knobs or Harmony Rocket white/gold skirt knobs). Possibly a black or white plastic ring to go underneath the pickup selector switch?

Anyhow, that's the story for now.

Cheers!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out the link and see what I can do to use photobucket for pic sharing. Let's see what my simple mind can accomplish.

Cheers!
