The Newark Street S-100 in the listing below appears to have LB-1s instead of HB-1s. I'm guessing this would have been a custom job?

Nope. The initial NS S100 came with the anti hum pickups. Eventually feedback from the LTG community convinced Cordoba to install the HB1's.

It turns out that Fender based the NS S100 on a early Guild S100 that came with the antihum pickups. Not many of the Guild reshaped S100"s came with anti hum pups but Fendor didn't realize the "odd duck" they acquired and based the initial lot of NS S100's with anti hum pickups!
Stranger but true!

Wow! Thanks for the history on that.

Fender-owned Guild kind of had a history of doing things like that. :)

Yeah. I read several of your reviews where you mention the unbalanced LB-1 pickups on Newark Street guitars, that was pretty surprising. But this is even more surprising, probably because I associate '70s and '90s S-100s so closely with HB-1 pickups.

The change was already planned under FMIC ownership but they only came out with the HB-1 equipped S-100 later in 2014 under CMG ownership.
