Just arrived. Craigslist find. Pretty minty. One scuff but that is about it. Binding is near immaculate. Even the case is in great shape inside and out. Bridge pickup is a bit spotty which seems to have occurred in transit. I will need to get that addressed. Assuming this is a contact issue on the selector switch. But sounds amazing. Definitely a challenging neck but I'm getting the hang of it.

Is the scratches on the upper treble horn from the case? In the cheap chipboard cases the hinge rivets would protrude and scratch the guitar. It might have lived in one of them earlier in it's life. Some cases place furry dots over the rivets and when they fall off they will scratch the guitar.

Like looking specimen!

Sounds like a viable theory. It is unlikely from this case as there in no hinge near the treble horn. The guy I bought it supposedly bought it from the original owner case and all. But now that I look at it, this may not be the original case, vintage though it is.

I like Grot's theory on this. That looks like metal scrapings to me, and that would be about where a handle would be riveted to a chipboard case to me.

Anyway, that's a shame, but could easily be touched up with some lacquer. Might not look perfect, but it'd look better. And, otherwise, that guitar looks like a time capsule!

Beautiful! And what a gorgeous colour - it just glows! congratulations!!!
Curious to know what you think of the pickups… I own DC 192, (short scale SFXII in green, same pickups) and the sound is one of the biggest, badest, sounds of any electric guitar I’ve ever owned. With the twelve strings going the sound is almost orchestral!
Be great to know your impressions of the sound!

I'll retract that statement and just call it an adjustment. My only other 12 string is a Dearmond S73-12 which has a massively wide neck as is very forgiving for a first foray into 12 strings. This is a classic Guild neck of 42mm at the nut so the string spacing is dense. This threw me at first but the more I play it, the more I realize it is basically what I'm used to.

Wow that is beautiful. Congratulations! In this case I would certainly have a pro clean up the scratches because the rest of it looks amazing! Must sound pretty great plugged in.

I wonder if the neck is wider at all on the 12 compared to the 6... Anyway, from what I can tell from the picture, it looks like your string height is good -- low if anything. So, hopefully you'll warm to the neck as you're not going to be able to make it any more playable (unless I'm not seeing that setup correctly, that is).

Neck is 51mm at the 12th fret which is comprable to my other Guilds. Yeah the action is super low. I'm inclined to raise it a bit. Definitely warming up to it.
